Getting started
Clickwalker tests websites from the outside, in a real browser. You add a site, run a site check, and write flows for the journeys that matter. This page takes about five minutes.
1. Create an account
Sign up with your name, email and a password. There's no email confirmation step, so you can start right away. If you enter your website while signing up, its first site check starts immediately.
Every account also gets the Sample store, a small shop we run at clickwalker.com/demo-store with a bug planted in its payment page. Run its Checkout flow to see what a failing report looks like.
2. Add your site and run a check
Choose Add a site in the sidebar and paste your address, for example yourstore.com. Clickwalker opens the page on a desktop and a phone screen, follows its links, and reads robots.txt, the sitemap and the certificate. You get:
- A score out of 100, split into reliability, speed, SEO, accessibility and security
- Screenshots of the page on desktop and phone
- A list of findings, most important first, each with how to fix it
See what site checks cover for every check and threshold.
3. Write your first flow
Open the site and choose New flow. Give it a name, the page it starts on, and the steps, one per line:
Click "Add to cart"
Click "Cart"
Click "Checkout"
Type "Test Customer" into "Full name"
Click "Continue to payment"
Expect to see "Payment"
As you type, the panel on the right shows how each line is understood. Lines it can't read turn red with a hint. Choose Save and run and the run page shows each step as it happens. The full list of steps is in Writing flow tests.
4. Put it on a schedule
In the flow's settings choose Every 6 hours, Every 12 hours or Once a day. Do the same for the site check in the site's Settings tab. To get alerts in Slack, add an incoming webhook there too. More on alerts.
5. Share a report
Every finished run has a Share button that creates a private link anyone can open without an account, handy for sending a bug to a developer or an agency. Turn the link off from the same button. Report downloads the run as Markdown.
Limits during the beta
- Up to 10 sites per account, 20 flows per site
- 30 site checks and 100 flow runs per day
- Up to 10 scheduled flows
- Screenshots and reports are kept for 90 days
